OCTO / MAC + IPHONE

Your mail and plans, in one place.

Octo brings mail, calendars and tasks together on Mac and iPhone. Read across connected accounts, prepare a reply and keep your next step in view. Optional AI can help you find context and draft a response using your own provider access.

Start with the edition for your device

Mac

The current Mac beta is a signed and notarized app delivered directly. Extract the ZIP, move Octo.app to Applications and open it. It supports Intel and Apple Silicon Macs from macOS 12; the widget requires macOS 14.

iPhone

The iPhone beta is delivered through Apple's TestFlight app. Features and connection options can differ from Mac. Distribution links are shared through the approved beta channels.

Read and respond

Keep connected mail accounts together. Review draft text and recipients before sending. Mac initially asks for read access and adds write permissions when enabled. The current iPhone connection asks for read, modify and send permissions together. Requested permission is distinct from the action you choose to take.

Make room for your day

View connected calendars alongside your work. Additional permission is requested for calendar changes. Tasks and connected services help you keep the next action close to its context.

Choose how AI helps

Ask Octo and drafting can send relevant message text, calendar or task context to an AI service accessed through your own account or API key. Ask can automatically fall back to available Claude or Codex access, so the service used may differ from your configured preference. Your provider's account terms and privacy settings apply. A CLI running on your Mac can still contact a remote provider. A local model is a separate option where supported.

How to begin

  1. Ask for the beta edition for your device.
  2. Connect the accounts and optional services you want to use.
  3. Review permissions, notification previews and AI choices before sharing data.

Understand what is shared

Some information is stored on your device. Optional vault sync encrypts selected records before upload. Connected account sharing and server mail notifications use a separate channel: the server can read the grants it needs to refresh Google access and check for new mail. Notification previews may include the sender, subject and a short excerpt. The vault does not encrypt every local cache or make every feature private from the server.

Questions

Is AI required?

AI features are optional. Provider availability, accounts and charges depend on the option you choose. No bundled AI subscription or free usage is promised here.

Does every feature work identically on Mac and iPhone?

No. The editions share product goals, but their providers, operating system permissions and connection flows differ. Confirm a feature in the edition you use.

Does Octo keep all my data on the device?

No. Account connections, optional synchronization, server notifications and selected AI services have different data flows. The current privacy and terms pages are older drafts awaiting replacement. They are not approved statements of current data handling.

Does notarization mean Google has approved the app?

No. Apple's notarization and Google's OAuth verification are separate processes. Google access is currently limited by the project's testing configuration.

Is the Mac beta on TestFlight?

No. Mac uses direct notarized distribution. iPhone uses TestFlight.

What does Octo cost?

Commercial pricing, trial conditions and refund terms have not been finalized. No purchase offer is made here.
